Some things I wanted to point out in Eggrypted's new video about TDS's weekly updates. | Fandom (2024)

P.S: There's no summary or TL:DR for you short attention span people, so read it or don't read it. Not my problem.

This post was not made to spread hate in the community, just sharing my thoughts and pointing out stuff that I think are important.

The first one being, the balancing. He says its terrible and "powercrept" but I'm here to disprove that.

90% of lvl 100+ players say that engineer is better than accelerator (finally, after such a long time) and that actually makes sense because engineer costs so much more than accelerator.

All the towers that aren't starter or event (some event towers are useless) are useful, and can be used pretty much all the time. In fact, he literally proves himself wrong when he admits that tds has become too easy with all the new "stuff" being added. By stuff, he means the new balance changes and the new towers. So why is it that he says TDS has terrible balancing (when all towers are useful, and all overpowered towers are getting nerfed) AND that the game is powercrept??

I've played with every single tower (except for some event towers) and I can confirm that with the recent balance changes, they are all (other than the starter towers) useful. Not something like that dumb toilet game where there's a set of 15 towers that are useful, and there's like 150 towers in the game. I can prove this once again, because the recent balance changes literally make every tower more useful, but at the same time not too overpowered.

I'll use gcb as an example. Its really cost efficient, great for all stages of the game. (except for the first few waves) With the recent rework of military base, some find this tower to be useless, but its actually really good because of the balance changes that they made back then. Just use it, and you'll see that its really good on a lot of modes.

Additionally, he called TDS out for the commander rework being practically "reverted" when people were mad at the change. He seems to put the blame on both the devs and the community, and this is where I slightly agree with him.

Devs, don't be so manipulated by your community, its just a couple no-skill 9 year old dumb gen alphas who are mad at this change, because they couldn't braindead spam commander. Look at the game as a whole, not just the community.

Players, you guys just can't be giving any feedback. I'm telling all of you because a lot of people will try to give feedback but it only makes the game worse. The best example is the commander rework, which was practically reverted in a few days (except for the caravan and placement limit) after people got mad.

Now onto the bugs, the developers and the community KNOWS that the code is messed up. I'm 99% sure that the devs didn't know how to properly script back in the day, and that greatly affected the game now. Weekly updates are not the main problem, its the "spaghetti code" COMBINED with the fast updates that is the problem.

Onto the powercreep section, only a couple towers are useless now, name me 4 towers that fall under intermediate, advanced or special that are considered useless. Pretty hard right? Sure you have some exceptions but all things considered, TDS balancing is great.

And if you are planning on saying "TDS has terrible balancing, that's why I play btd6 now" you're not smart, you're not cool, you're not funny, you're just cringe. I'll admit, BTD6 balancing is quite better than TDS, with every tower being useful. but saying that TDS has horrible balancing is just a "kick me" sign on your back. It just depends on the situation, and there's really not much you can do with the way TDS was designed in the first place.

The only thing I can fully agree on with this guy is the difficulty of the game.

I've been on this fandom for like 90 days now, and for the past month, I've used it more than I've played TDS (in this month, that is), because to a lot of people, TDS is just easy now and I agree.

Luckily, we have challenge maps which should make the game harder, and I'm interested if we get those 4x hp modifiers, because GOOD HEAVENS they are a necessary addition to the game to make sure nobody gets bored (for the most part).

With that being said, the current state of TDS is pretty good, this is just the mini content drought that we're having whenever the developers are cooking up something. Its almost confirmed that we're getting an ace pilot rework next week, a pursuit rework, challenge maps and pvp release (in a couple months).

Now, any questions?
