You’ll start by heating your chocolate, cream, sugar, and cocoa mixture on the stove top until it is well combined, the chocolate is all melted, and it’s a smooth consistency.The mixture will thicken as it cools, this picture should help show you what a cooled consistency should look like.

These homemade hot chocolate truffles taste like a yummy cup of hot cocoa with two topping options! This will be a favorite Christmas dessert to share!

Ingredients

  • 5 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 2 tsp sugar
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tbsp cocoa powder
  • For toppings:
  • Cocoa powder
  • Mini marshmallow bits

Instructions

  1. In a small pot over medium heat, melt chocolate chips along with sugar, heavy cream and cocoa powder. Stir frequently.
  2. Once evenly melted and smooth, refrigerate for 4 hours.
  3. Once thoroughly cooled and stiff, scoop out1-inch balls using a cookie scoop, and roll between hands until round.
  4. Refrigerate again for 15 minutes to stiffen up any chocolate that melted by being rolled.
  5. Pour outcocoa powderon a small plate, and roll half of your balls in it to coat.
  6. Pressmarshmallow bitsin the rest of your balls.
  7. Keep refrigerated until ready to serve.
