The Office of the Bursar is the financial hub for UAF. We serve numerous students, staff and faculty, agencies, and the public in a wide range of activities. The quality of service provided is often a determining factor in the perception of our students’ experience and the university as a whole.

This student position offers the opportunity to not only welcome in our new students but develop your customer service skills too. Job duties are primarily clerical and includes cash handling, customer service, and helping department managers with special projects as needed. Your schedule will be flexible to work around your classes. We also offer full-time employment for this position during summer break.

A successful applicant will possess the following:

• Knowledge of how to use Word and Excel, Google Docs and Sheets, and the ability to search information on the internet.
• An attention to detail, working in an organized manner, follow instructions, and work without close supervision.
• Ability to act in a professional manner and maintain confidentiality and security of all information.
• Confidence in actively communicating with your team members and supervisor regarding your job duties.
• Teachability for how to conduct professional emails and phone calls.

Minimum Qualifications:

High School Diploma or equivalent

Prefer (3) months or more of general office experience and cash handling.

UA Board of Regents' Policy P09.05.020 states that in order to be eligible for student employment, graduate and undergraduates must be enrolled in, and regularly attending, a minimum of six (6) credit hours in the current semester of employment or have been enrolled the preceding semester for six or more credit hours and demonstrate plans to enroll for six or more credit hours in the next semester for employment between semesters.

Applicants must possess a 2.0 or better cumulative grade point average (GPA).

Position Details:

This is a part-time position up to 20 hours per week while school is in session. Additional hours may be available during the summer and winter breaks. Starting hourly rate is $16.50/hr.
