Detroit Arsenal taps into geothermal power under DoE partnership army.milU.S Army Garrison Detroit Arsenal drilled down to power up with geothermal energy! Through a federal partnership with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), the Arsenal installed an exploratory geothermal well. This collaboration provides technical assistance for geothermal energy deployment at federal sites. Detroit Arsenal is the FIRST of two DoD installations to receive technical assistance though this initiative! VERY exciting to see such great work continue in Chicago and the Bronzeville neighborhood. DOE and SETO have been engaged for years in making the South Side of Chicago a model for resilience for other urban areas. It will be thrilling to see where this goes next. EERE Success Story—FORGE-ing Ahead with U.S. Geothermal energy.govCLEAN ENERGY WIN: We have ground-breaking updates from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) funded FORGE site, where the team connected two geothermal wells and demonstrated that they can transfer energy successfully! By tapping a human-made geothermal reservoir, the team at FORGE has reached another key milestone in geothermal energy production.
