Indiana University East, a regional campus of Indiana University, offers residents of eastern Indiana, western Ohio, and beyond a broad range of bachelor's degrees and selected master's degrees and certificates through its traditional main campus in Richmond, off-campus sites, and online program options.

The Office of Admissions is responsible for marketing the University in an effort to recruit prospective students by providing information and materials about the University and admissions policies, procedures, application process, academic programs, and support services to prospective students, parents, and counselors. Overall, the Office of Admissions is responsible for setting and meeting all undergraduate new student enrollment goals as a critical part of the total enrollment of the University.

Department-Specific Responsibilities
Works under the general direction of the Executive Director, the primary responsibility of the Admissions Counselor is to meet enrollment goals within the assigned geographical area. This will be accomplished by marketing the University's academic programs to students from high schools, technical schools, adult education or career service programs, and other colleges and universities through presentations, campus visits, phone, e-mail, text, and social media communications.
Participates in recruitment activities on campus, including but not limited to: personal interviews and tours, Open Houses, Admitted Student Days, and New Student Orientation, and may represent the University at various other campus and community functions, as assigned. Evening and weekend hours and frequent travel in and out of state are required.
Recruits to university programs by effectively managing geographic territories, including assisting in development and maintenance of recruiting and marketing materials; scheduling and performing recruitment presentations at schools, college fairs, or other appropriate locations and events; and conducting informational meetings and interviews.
Collects, analyzes, and interprets historical territory-specific data to determine funnel trends
Formulates goals based on historical trends and high school graduation projections for targeted groups
Develops and implements an individualized recruitment plan with appropriate objectives and strategies to reach set goals to include budgetary needs, as required
Formulates and implement a comprehensive travel plan that includes college fairs, high school private visits, and special programs, as required
Responds promptly to student and parent inquiries and connect prospective students and parents with other college resources, including Faculty, Campus Life, Athletics, Bursar, Financial Aid, Registrar
Maintains a detailed knowledge of degree programs, including requirements, curriculum, policies and procedures, student and faculty accomplishments, and general knowledge about IU and IU East
Determines individual student admissibility and conduct honest conversations with students regarding enrollment possibilities by evaluating the applicant credential file, standardized test scores, transcripts, and letters of recommendations.
Creates a file of most-desired prospective students based on evaluation of student files, observations during school visits, and recommendations from alumni, school officials, and other interested parties.
Devises and implements a plan to increase the likelihood those prospects will enroll at IU East.
Advises denied applicants about the transferability of courses and other issues having to do with the transition to the University
Helps coordinate recruitment activities such as: VIP Days, Admitted Student Day, High School Guidance Counselor Breakfast, New Student Orientation, as well as participate in other campus events, as needed (workshops, commencement, awards programs)
Conducts counseling interviews with admitted students and family members who visit campus in order to assess college performance
Integrates services for special populations into programs in the department (returning adults, high school students, etc.)
Tailors private visits to meet individual needs for all visitors (sit in on class, meet with coach, visit Financial Aid, etc.)
Serves as the point of contact and help coordinate the Admission Ambassador program, including but not limited to: Ambassador recruitment, training, and mentorship
Serves as University Ambassador for special programs sponsored by the Chancellor's Office, Academic Affairs, Advancement, Student Affairs, University and Community Relations, Business Affairs, Athletics, and other areas, as requested. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Admissions

Maintains, implements and oversees a holistic recruitment yield tactical plan for recruitment.
Develops, implements, and administers plans, programs, and events for general and targeted student recruitment in support of organizational goals.
Integrates a diverse and strategic communications strategy in collaboration with other departments, geared toward specific student declared academic major, career interests, and geographic factors.
Identifies and develops partnerships for outreach to prospective students and influencers.
Interprets academic policies and exercises authority and independent judgment.
Plans, implements, and evaluates programs and processes and determines the effectiveness of markets and strategies. Exercises independent judgment and uses census data and modeling tools to identify effective marketing plans and strategies to address specific populations.
Serves in a collaborative role with internal and external stakeholders to identify targets of opportunity to attract and enroll under-represented populations. Participates in the assessment and evaluation of various models.
May attend meetings or serve on committees with the admissions stakeholders, including all staff meetings, recruitment, and outreach team meetings, customer service lead meetings, and undergraduate recruitment council meetings; may provide guidance to other admissions counselors.

This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
