Although, there is one downfall to making this, purchasing enough candy canes to continually have this on supply throughout the year.
Homemade alcoholic beverages have been made for centuries. It’s not a new process, but a skill many do not own.
With that said, here are a few adult beverages which takes only minutes to make. Not to mention, they also make excellent gifts!

Using seasonal fruit and herbsare ideal, consisting of homegrown, from the market, or foraged for. Fruits such as red huckleberry, raspberries, elderberry, pomegranate and stone fruit are excellent items to infuse.
However, when infusing alcohol with candy you will want to make sure to select hard candies. Items such as candy cane, jolly ranchers or atomic fireballs are good choices.
For a more delightful twist add spices in combination to fruit or candy infusions. Vanilla, cinnamon, cloves, or all spice combine well with herbs and candy.Or infuse vodka with herbs like mint and bee balm.
Begin by unwrapping the candy canes and break into thirds.
Next, evenly distribute the candy canes into mason jars.
Pour the vodka over the candy canes leaving a 1/2-inch headspace.
The final step is to add the lids and rings to the jars.
Allow the vodka and candy canes to steep for a few hours. During this time gently shaking the jars to help the candy dissolve.
Once the candy has fully dissolved, transform the infused vodka into swing top bottles using a bottle funnel.
Store bottles in a cool, dark and dry location, or in the freezer for a chilled beverage.
Note
Gift this beverage in the swing top bottles or mason jars. Jar tags provide a special touch when gifting homemade items.

The candy canes will dissolve in the vodka and the vodka will turn this really festive pinkish red color. Use a fine mesh strainer over a large measuring cup and pour the jars out over the strainer to filter out any undissolved candy cane pieces.
Place the bottle of Candy Cane Vodka somewhere you pass by frequently so you can give it a shake as often as you can. You can serve within about 4 hours, but it's best left for a few days or even weeks.
Pour two ounces of vodka into a clean Bernadin jar. Add one teaspoon of peppermint extract to 20 oz vodka. If you add more vodka make sure you increase the peppermint extract. If you're adding red food colouring this is the time to do it.
How do I soak gummy bears in alcohol? Just toss them in a jar and fill it with vodka until they're all drowning. Allow them to soak about 8 hours, then drain the vodka off and drink it. If you leave them in too long the bears completely dissolve, and it makes a horrible, gooey slime-like thing.
Infusions made with dried or preserved ingredients, however, do not require refrigeration. It should also be noted that most infused vodkas have shelf lives of 3 months before their flavor potentially wanes.
All the homemade flavoured vodkas should be stored in a cool, dark and dry place for best quality. If stored properly, flavoured vodka can last up to a year.
Transfer the fruit vodka to bottles: Pour the vodka into clean glass bottles — a small funnel helps with this step. The bottles don't necessarily need to be completely filled, but they do need to be able to be sealed or the vodka will evaporate. Store the vodka out of direct sunlight; it will keep indefinitely.
However, there are exceptions. For example, if you are infusing your vodka with fruit, it is perfectly fine to let it sit in the fridge for a full week prior to serving. Your guests may even comment on how it tastes more like syrup than liquor.
If you can't find peppermint extract, there are a few substitutions that work just as well. For 1 teaspoon peppermint extract, substitute: 1/4 teaspoon peppermint oil (make sure it is edible) 1 tablespoon peppermint schnapps.
Instructions: Fill your spray bottle with a 1:1 ratio of water and vinegar.Add 10 drops of peppermint essential oil to your bottle and shake well. Tip: You can add a few more drops of oil if the scent isn't minty enough for you.
Get in the holiday spirit by making homemade Peppermint Vodka. It's easier than you think! Candy canes dissolve in a jar of vodka to create this simple infused alcohol. Mix Candy Cane Vodka into seasonal mixed drinks at holiday parties or add a shot to your hot chocolate for even more festive flavor.
Candy canes, and most candy, are made up of sugar molecules (sucrose) which dissolve in water (see: solubility) because they form bonds with the water molecules. Sugar and water molecules will attract each other and form bonds and if the attraction is strong enough... they will separate!
The sugar is made of a polar molecule, just like water, so the sugar and water interact. This causes the sugar and food color to dissolve, or melt, into the water. The alcohol is less polar than water, so it dissolves some of the candy coating, but more slowly and not as well.
