Why do you need a 2nd opinion?I can see the need for a 2nd opinion in the medical world sometimes. But in the general system/process/operation world? And with a customer going to a different team member and expecting a different answer???OK - so this sounds like a bit of a chip on my shoulder from previous experiences, but like most of you, I pride myself on making sure to discuss projects/issues/resolutions/costs with my team so we can speak with one voice to the customer. I mean “team” in the widest sense as today many of us work in projects that involve your core team, but with other resources from development, data analytics, project management, operations, etcIt is therefore not necessary for someone to “shop around” in the wider team to try to get a different opinion on what is needed to deliver a piece of functionality or resolve an issue, including time & cost. For sure, having a joint discussion can lead to clarifications/potential changes for the better . . .but trying to trade off one view with another to push an agenda or squeeze 1% off cost . . . most of the time everyone loses in terms of the longer term relationship & trust#B2B #procuretopay #suppliers #supplychain #processimprovement #compliance #MDM This post is my personal opinion. This content is not read or approved by my employer before it is posted and does not necessarily represent their positions, strategies, or opinions.

Scaling up your process to prepare for clinical and commercial supply can be a headache, resulting in significant delays in your project timeline. On top of that, you may be unaware of what expertise you have in-house, which can lead to wasted time and resources in searching for the right people to help you with your project.I understand how frustrating this can be, as I've been there before. However, I eventually found a solution that worked for me: creating an expertise map.An expertise map is a tool that can help you identify the right people for your project by listing the expertise you need, the available expertise in your team, and the relevant expertise within the entire company. By doing this, you can save time and resources, and ensure that you have the right people with the right skills working on your project. To create an expertise map, start by listing the needed expertise for your project. This could include specific technical skills or knowledge of a particular industry or market. Next, list the available expertise in your team. This could include people who have worked on similar projects in the past or who have relevant experience in a particular area. Finally, list the relevant expertise within the entire company, which may include people in other departments or locations who have the skills you need.Creating an expertise map ensures that you have a clear understanding of the expertise available to you and can make informed decisions about who to involve in your project. This can help you avoid delays and ensure that your project is a success.#cellculture #processdevelopment #bioprocessing #celltherapymanufacturing #cellandgenetherapy

Dr. House: The Power to say ‘No’ 👨⚕️In any high-stakes profession, a certain level of expertise is required to navigate the complexities and uncertainties. A fine example of this, in the medical realm, is Dr. Gregory House, renowned for his unconventional methods and unwavering commitment to his stance, no matter how unpopular. This expertise is particularly important when it comes to saying ‘No’. Dr. House is "that good" that he appears to possess a superpower to say No and Product Managers (PM) can draw from some his personality traits, 1️⃣ Diagnostic Precision: Just as Dr. House uses his diagnostic skills to pinpoint the exact cause of a patient's ailment, a PM must analyze the needs and priorities of the Customers with precision. Saying No is all practical and no sentimental task.2️⃣ Unwavering Conviction: Dr. House's resolve to stand by his diagnosis, even in the face of pressure from patients and colleagues, mirrors confidence in judgment. Similarly, for a PM, saying No isn't about stubbornness; it's about maintaining faith in decisions in the course of product lifecycle.3️⃣ Risk Management: Both Dr. House and a skilled PM understand the importance of risk management. By saying No to unnecessary activities, they mitigate the risk of wasting resources or deviating from the critical path to success.4️⃣ Trust in Expertise: Dr. House's colleagues may not always appreciate his blunt demeanor, but they trust his expertise and judgment built over years. Similarly, stakeholders may initially resist a PM’s decisions, but consistent demonstration of success resulting from expertise builds trust over time.5️⃣ Outcome-Oriented: Ultimately, both Dr. House and a successful PM are outcome-oriented. They prioritize results over popularity, making tough decisions to ensure the best possible outcome for their patients or Customers. In essence, just as Dr. House needs to be "that good" to say No to patients and colleagues in pursuit of excellence, a PM must embody a similar level of expertise and conviction to make tough decisions that drive product success and ultimately customer satisfaction. For those intrigued by the compelling character of Dr. House, you can catch him in the medical drama series "House, M.D." (Netflix). It's a gripping portrayal of medical mysteries, unorthodox problem-solving, and the unyielding pursuit of truth — attributes that resonate deeply with the challenges and triumphs of Product Management.#ProductManagement #Leadership #DrHouse #SayingNoLikeAPro 💡🚀

😱 Tendering Horror StoryWhen companies decide to improve Tender Management, they usually start by focusing on narrow areas of the process by implementing multiple limited tools and/or making developments on systems they already have in house – like ERPs or CRMs.🧟♂️ Result: a disjointed, bolted together mess Frankensystem🎃 Scary Surprise: after implementing all these solutions, it turs out that users don’t use them and have happily gone back to the good old spreadsheets to manage tenders – while the company continues to spend money and effort taking care of its monster.💥 Main Impacts:→ No single source of truth→ Waste of time and money→ Less productivity→ Lower winning percentage→ User frustrationIf you’re evaluating to improve Tender Management, consider the whole end-to-end process.👻 Leave the horror stories to fiction – call the tenderbuster: https://bit.ly/3Ox3lGN#tendermanagement #tendering #medtech #lifescience #pharma #marketaccess #halloween #pricing
