Because it has a frick huge audience that they've pushed away with their own incompetence?
The game on paper is fricking great but when you want to play it all you have to pick from is sh*t maps 24/7 servers and uncletopia because valve bulldozed the infrastructure a decade ago and that just fricking sucks

I want to play this objectively superior version again but my Source SDK 2013 Multiplayer is completely fricked on Linux
I have every other Source SDK from 2006 to 2013 Singleplayer installed to play Half-Life 2 mods and they all run just fine, but whenever I launch 2013 Multiplayer (or any game that uses it) it always fails to launch and the window doesn't even pop up. Switching to older Proton versions isn't working, nor is verifying the SDK's file cache.
anyone know how to fix this? I couldn't find anything pertinent through search engines and even the technical help channel of the official TF2C- may Allah forgive me for uttering this word- Discord is stumped.- Anonymous

oh Christ the backlash would be stratospheric
since finding out about it I haven't heard a single positive reaction to Deadlock specifically (the only good things I heard were about Valve finally getting a new game past pre-alpha, nothing like "oh, the game looks good") and I can't imagine people are wanting for a new competitive-based hero shooter in a time period filled to the hilt with competitive-based hero shootersif the leaks are genuine and it does get to release, then the humongous market bloat may very well have it end up like another Artifact, which would be another added to the list of big Valve duds after the TF2 Meet Your Match update and, well, Artifact

TF2 is an old and cantankerous thing right now. They should do the Quake 3 to Quake Live thing and modernize it, then re-release it. Put it on Source 2 or whatever. Higher poly models, make it look good. No hats and gay loot crate sh*t. Keep the old TF2 going for people that want those things, or whose PC can't run the new one

TF2 already died long ago with Meet Your Match, only way to play it now is Incletopia or the 5 other vanilla/Payload servers.
Valve will never do anything, accept that or move on.

It was not, I hate when people say this, it's obvious they never played classic TF
There was no "grenade spam", most people held to their grenades for an useful moment,and didn't just spam them without a care, many times people died without even tossing grenades
Also many of them were memey pieces of sh*t grenades, like the Soldier's spike grenade

Classic was not good all, the grenades made matches bullsh*t, classes were unbalanced and broken in some cases, and the source version looked like complete dogsh*t.
unreal tournament was basically the vastly better version of it.
